I’m excited to share that my flash horror story “Red in New Hamlet” will be published on Black Hare Press’s Patreon in the coming weeks.

The story is a dark, urban retelling of a familiar fairy tale. It follows Rosa as she navigates the streets of New Hamlet—a city terrorized by a serial killer who calls himself “The Big Bad Wolf.”

If you enjoy twisted fairy tales or urban horror with a gritty edge you might like this one.

I initially came up with the idea for the story when Black Hare Press had a Dark Moments challenge in June under the theme Fairytale Retellings. I wrote Red in New Hamlet, but it was way over the 100-word limit, so I shelved it and wrote something else for that competition – a little story called Friend4Life – a retelling of The Pied Piper. Friend4Life unfortunately didn’t make the cut. Luckily Red in New Hamlet eventually found its way to Black Hare Press via its Patreon.

I’ll share the link to the story as soon as it goes live.

Thanks to Black Hare Press for giving this story a home!

Cheers, MK.
